Make it yours

You can now get words into the app and hear them read back. This last chapter is about everything that happens after that.

Keep the parts worth keeping

Press and hold on any sentence to start selecting it, then drag to take in as much as you want. A menu appears with five highlight colours, and with it the options to add a note, drop a bookmark, read from that point, or share the passage as a quote.

Double tap a paragraph for the faster version of the same idea. That menu offers Read from here and Add Bookmark.

Try it on this paragraph. Double tap it, choose Read from here, and the voice picks up from exactly this line.

Share a line that stayed with you

Select a passage and choose Share quote. Readible turns it into what looks like a photograph of the printed page, your words picked out in highlighter, with the title and author set underneath. It is ready to post, or to send to the one person who will understand why you stopped reading to show them.

Try it on the next line. Press and hold on its first word, drag to the full stop, and choose Share quote.

The best sentences are the ones you cannot keep to yourself.

A passage you highlighted earlier works too. Tap the highlight and choose Share quote, and the marker on the page takes the colour you gave it.

Everything you save gathers in the Collected tab, sorted into Quotes and Bookmarks. Every quote you share waits there, ready to send again.

Find it again later

The search button on the Home screen looks through titles, authors, and every single paragraph you have ever imported. A half-remembered phrase is usually enough. If you read it in here, you can find it again.

Listening with the screen off

Lock the phone and the voice keeps going, with play, pause and skip available on the lock screen. When you open the app again, the play bar on your Home screen is still there, holding your place in whatever you were listening to.

If you read yourself to sleep, set the sleep timer from the reader toolbar. It runs from fifteen minutes up to two hours, and stops the voice on its own so your book does not quietly finish without you.

Every gesture in one place

One last thing

That is the whole tour. This tutorial is an ordinary article like any other, so when it has served its purpose, press and hold it on your Home screen and choose Delete. It will not take offence.

Happy listening.
